The 15th Ecumenical Social Week

Annual International Forum The 15th Ecumenical Social Week “Wandering Identity: Considering Meanings and Values” will take place on October, 3 – 7, 2022 in Lviv (with online attendance option). The topic - "Wandering Identity: Considering Meanings and Values" - is especially relevant in times of war. The forum is organized by the Institute of Ecumenical Studies of Ukrainian Catholic University supported by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Ukraine.

Wandering Identity: Considering Meanings and Values

YouTube, Institute of Ecumenical Studies UCU

During five days, representatives of the government, media, social organizations, churches, civil society and educational institutions will discuss the meanings and values that Ukraine and the world are living now.

The program includes: discussions, seminars, panels with speakers from 15 countries.

The events are divided into three units:
I. Edges of Identity: Religious, National, Ethnical, Cultural and Political
ІІ. Identity, War and Migration
ІІІ. The Role and Impact of Various Social Institutions on the Identity Formation

Experts and partners: Evangelical Church of Germany and the Ecumenical Institute of the Catholic University in Paris, Vienna University, International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations of the National University “Lviv Polytechnics”, Institute of Church History of UCU, Analytical Center of UCU, Lviv City Council.

The speakers:

  • Myroslav Marynovych, Vice-Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University,
  • Yaroslav Hrytsak, historian,
  • Jörg Lüer, Head of the “Justice and Peace” Commission,
  • Seyla Benhabib, Professor of Political Studies and Philosophy at Yale University,
  • Gerard Delanty, sociologist and a Professor of Sociology and Social Political Thought at Sussex University and others.

The events will be held in Ukrainian with simultaneous interpreting into English, German and French (some events).
