Women continue to be affected more and more byconditions of poverty because poverty is linked to women’sinequality in society. Women make up the majority in termsof unemployment, and are treated unfairly by society aswell as in their home environments. Women bear almostall responsibility for meeting basic needs of the family, yetthey are systematically denied the resources they need tofulfil this responsibility. [...] Studies show that when women are supported andempowered, the entire society benefits.
