German MP Volkmar Klein in Australia

Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (Australia) is pleased to welcome Volkmar Klein from the German Bundestag to Australia again. In Perth, the Member of the German Parliament had the opportunity to meet the former Minister for Defence, Senator Linda Reynolds, and the former Minister for the Public Service, Ben Morton, to discuss the implications of the German elections, the upcoming Australian elections, the recent meeting between US President Trump and the Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, and related matters. A roundtable discussion in cooperation with the Perth USAsia Center provided the participants with the opportunity to discuss geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific, the implications for Germany and Europe of the US administration's decision to suspend any support of Ukraine, and other matters. The meetings were complemented by a luncheon discussion with the CEO of Neometals, Christopher Reed, and representatives of Moerk Water, a German company in Australia providing clean water to African countries and Pacific Island States. Further, the MP paid a visit to Hofmann Engineering's Australian headquarters, and was kindly offered a tour of their impressive production facilities. Day 2 in Perth concluded with a lively dinner discussion with the German Honorary Consul, Gabriele Maluga, and representatives from the business sector. Another highlight of his stay in Perth was the visit of the JHUB Maccabi Community Centre, where the MP learnt about the Center's history and current activities.
