For KAS, energy security and climate change are important keys for the structure and maintenance of a democratic social order. In front of that, the Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change in Latin America (EKLA) of KAS, has been designed as a dialogue platform, in order to boost the processes of taking political decisions around these issues.
One of those fundamental processes is boosting circular economy as an instrument for sustainable development. Circular economy is a response that overcomes an adequate solid waste management and supposes a process of design, production and consumption that doesn’t implies to overexploit natural resources. To think on a smarter economy, it is necessary the support of political leaders that put the subject on the agenda and help it make it a reality.
In that context, we are happy to present the research “Circular Economy and Public Policies: State of the art and challenges for the development of a political framework to promote circular economy in Latin America”, made by CIEC with Dr. Luis Martínez as the principal researcher and a team of high level consultants.
Thanks to the research and the participation of experts during 3 workshops in Lima, Bogotá and Santiago de Chile, we achieved to identify different initiatives driven by the public sector, highlighted entrepreneurships and to discover the digital speech around 20 countries of the region. I invite you to enjoy reading this document that was elaborated with a lot of effort and thanks every person that was part of this.
