While Mongolia has prospected one third of its land, most of its mineral resources have not been touched yet. Mongolia ranks in the top ten lists of raw material resource reserves in the world. The German economy is not only dependent on raw materials used for power (oil, natural gas, coal), the economy is also highly dependent on imported metals.
Today, only minimal amounts of raw materials are being exported to Germany from Mongolia. Mongolia is looking to expand exportation of their vast resources to Germany. In return, Mongolia has expressed interest in German technology and investment. In October 2011, the Mongolian and German governments began a new partnership in key areas such as mineral resources, industry and technology in order to support and constantly develop Mongolian mineral resource field and to improve German mineral resource supply. Political analysts and economists will discuss these issues at the forum.
