Post-Elections Dialogue-Reflections on the 2024 General Election

On 11 June CANRAD in cooperation with KAS hosted a post-elections dialogue Reflections on the 2024 General Elections: The Youth’s Perspective which was attended by over 100 delegates. The delegates were students and the staff of Nelson Mandela University and high school learners from Kwesi Lomso in Zwide and Masiphathisane High School in Motherwell.

The Goedgedacht Forum’s focus is the “common good”. Am 29. Mai 2024 findet in Südafrika die Wahl zum Nationalparlament sowie aller Provinzparlamente statt. Nach Jahren des wirtschaftlichen Abstiegs bedarf das Land einer dringenden Neuausrichtung. Auch als Folge dessen wird die Partei Nelson Mandelas, der ANC, Umfragen zufolge erstmalig seit Ende der Apartheid 1994 die absolute Mehrheit auf nationaler Ebene verfehlen und auf Koalitionspartner angewiesen sein. Parallel diversifiziert sich das südafrikanische Parteienspektrum zunehmend stark. Es entfaltet sich ein neuer Wettbewerb um die besten Lösungen für die zahlreichen Herausforderungen des Landes. In welcher Konstellation Südafrika zukünftig regiert wird, ist vor diesem Hintergrund ungewiss, denn verschiedene Szenarien bezüglich des Wahlausgangs sind denkbar.
