Journalists are without a doubt among the best storytellers, which is why five media representatives from South East Europe stepped into the spotlight and presented their stories in front of an audience on the 10th of June. They shared their stories about their research, encounters and experiences in an entertaining way. The motto: "Who will offer the audience the most exciting look behind the scenes of journalistic work?"

Competing against each other were: Alex Nedea from Romania, Tsvetelina Petrunova from Bulgaria, Miljana Dasic from Montenegro, Ivan Fischer from Croatia and Milivoje Pantovic from Serbia. The topics were diverse, ranging from schemes of the forest mafia to million-dollar frauds with cryptocurrencies and corrupt politicians to rare genetic defects affecting infants.

All the slammers performed great, but there could only be one winner this time as well: Investigative journalist Alex Nedea from Romania. He convinced the audience in Bucharest and the viewers of the online stream with his story about his research on illegal deforestation in Romania and the mysterious disappearance of hundreds of hectares of trees. By winning the slam in Bucharest, he qualified for the annual finals of the Reporter Slam in Berlin.

The event was organised by the KAS Media Programme in cooperation with Jochen Markett, who invented the "Reporter Slam" series and moderated the evening, and the Romanian NGO "Funky Citizens".
