Recent evolutions in the international peace and security environment have brought peacekeeping to a turning point. With a decline in the number of large-scale UN-led missions, the rise in leadership of the AU and demand for peace enforcement operations, and broader shifts in the geopolitical order, there is an acknowledged need to examine how peace operations may be structured and led in the future. These developments inspired efforts to develop “new models” in peace operations, including more flexible configurations that could be led by the UN, including in partnership with the AU and other entities. In response, the International Peace Institute (IPI) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) New York are seeking a consultant to support a series of scenario-based tabletop brainstorming sessions, in which experts could innovate potential responses to hypothetical contexts.

The details for the call are available in the Terms of Reference, available for download.

Please send your CV and a brief proposal for the project to Erica Mumford, Program Manager at KAS New York, at erica.mumford@kas.de. All applications must be received by November 18, 2024.
