Firmly based on Christian Democratic thought, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung exclusively pursues goals that immediately serve the common good. Together with partners, friends, and supporters in Germany and abroad and assisted by a committed and highly motivated team of employees, its key mission is to promote democracy through activities in Germany and the world, and to present the fundamental elements of social market economy. The Stiftung also uses political dialogue as a tool to promote understanding across national and cultural boundaries.
Key items in the Stiftung's range of activities include supporting gifted and societally committed students from Germany and abroad as well as its commitment to adult education as an investment in the future of a democratic polity.
The public funds allotted to the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung have been dwindling steadily since 1993. This is why the Stiftung increasingly needs private support and funds to conduct its projects and programmes. If the work of the Stiftung is to maintain its current high level of performance in the future, individual initiative, self-help, and civic commitment will be indispensable at all levels.
