PALU is a continental membership forum for African lawyers and lawyers’ associations. It brings together the continent’s five regional lawyers’ associations, over fifty-four national lawyers’ associations and over 500 lawyers.

The African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights (the Court) is a continental court established by African countries to ensure protection of human and peoples’ rights in Africa. It complements and reinforces the functions of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights.

Die Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ Kenya) wurde 1959 gegründet und ist eine Nichtregierungs- und Non-Profit-Organisation, die in Kenia registriert ist und Mitglieder vor allem aus Anwaltschaft und Richterschaft hat. Sie ist eine Ladesabteilung der International Commissions of Jurists, deren Hauptquartier in Genf ist. ICJ Kenya beschäftigt sich mit der Förderung und dem Schutz von Rechtsstaatlichkeit, Demokratie und Menschenrechten in Kenia sowie der Region Ostafrika. Mit der ICJ hat das Rechtsstaatsprogramm bereits eine große Zahl stark nachgefragter Publikationen herausgebracht und führt jährlich eine regionale Juristenkonferenz durch.

Das Zentrum für Menschenrechte an der Universität Pretoria ist eine in ganz Afrika anerkannte Menschenrechtsorganisation mit hohem wissenschaftlichen Anspruch. Es bietet Masterstudiengänge in Human Rights and Democratisation und Praktika bei verschiedenen Menschenrechtsorganisationen an. Postgraduierte Studiengänge zur Erlangung eines Doktortitels sind ebenso Bestandteil des Programms wie die Durchführung von Konferenzen und Workshops mit internationaler Beteiligung. Zusammenarbeit mit der KAS gibt es beispielsweise zu den Themen der Tätigkeit und Bedeutung des Internationalen Strafgerichtshofes wie auch des SADC-Tribunals.

Dieser regionale Gerichtshof, seit Jahren Partner des Rechtsstaatsprogramms, spielt eine bedeutende Rolle beim Einigungsprozess der East African Community (EAC) und sieht sich als Parallele zum Europäischen Gerichtshof.

Mit der Law School der Strathmore University besteht eine enge Kooperation. Die noch junge Fakultät zeichnet sich durch ein herausragendes Engagement im rechtsstaatlichen und gesellschaftspolitischen Bereich aus. In Veranstaltungen neben der üblichen Lehre widmet sie sich u.a. ebenso dem Schutz von Menschenrechten und dem Zugang zu Gericht wie auch Verfassungsentwicklung.

The Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI) is a regional umbrella body that brings together 44 African National Human Rights Institutions. NANHRI, whose Secretariat is based in Nairobi, Kenya, is currently registered under Kenyan law as an independent legal entity and has been operational since 2007. The Network seeks to support and strengthen National Human Rights Institutions in Africa as well as to facilitate coordination and cooperation among themselves and between them and other key human rights actors at the regional and international level. National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) generally refer to bodies established by governments to aid in promotion and protection of human rights within their respective jurisdictions through handling complaints and conducting investigations, conducting research, advocacy and educational programmes in line with the Paris Principles.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development was established in 1986. It succeeded the earlier Intergovernmental Authority on Drought and Development (IGADD), a multinational body founded in 1986 by Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda and Kenya, with a focus on development and environmental control. IGADD's headquarters were later moved to Djibouti, following an agreement signed in January 1986 by the member states. Eritrea joined the organization in 1993, upon achieving independence. The IGAD mission is to assist and complement the efforts of the Member States to achieve, through increased cooperation:*Food Security and environmental protection*Promotion and maintenance of peace and security and humanitarian affairs, and,*Economic cooperation and integration.

In November 2007, a group of scholars from the Greater Horn region (Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda) and from the diaspora with support from UNESCO established the Greater Horn Horizon Forum (GHHF). The Forum has come at a time when the people of the region are confronted with some decisive and urgent challenges such as conflicts, poverty and identity problems. The Forum intends to interact with the communities of the region, soliciting their ideas and vision with the aim of forging common approaches in tackling their shared challenges and in charting a mutually beneficial future.

Die Geschichte der Universität von Stellenbosch lässt sich bis ins 17te Jahrhundert zurückverfolgen. In Zusammenarbeit mit der KAS verfolgt die Universität Stellenbosch das Ziel, junge Menschen an Führungsaufgaben heranzuführen und für ein gesellschaftspolitisches Engagement zu gewinnen. Unter diesen Aspekt fällt auch die Gründung des Stellenbosch Forums für Gute Regierungsführung (SGGF), das sich dafür einsetzt, dass wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse für eine gute Regierungsführung genutzt werden können. Des Weiteren arbeiten die KAS und die Universität Stellenbosch auf dem Feld der nachhaltigen Energie- und Ressourcensicherheit zusammen.
