The Conference held in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova, was a remarkable gathering of legal experts and practitioners focused on enhancing electoral processes in the region.
The conference kicked off with two insightful panels regarding the electoral landscape from Romania and Moldova’s recent elections, also discussing the media’s role.
Panels also explored comparative insights, good practices and challenges faced by Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, and Montenegro. In comparison with the Balkan countries, Dr. Pavel Usvatov presented the complexity of the electoral system in Germany.
A thought-provoking session held by dr. Mahir Muharemović compared historical lessons from democracy and elections in Athens and Rome, emphasizing the importance of learning from the past.
The conference concluded with a workshop aimed at improving legislation regarding diaspora voting, mass media’s usage during electoral campaign and combatting electoral corruption, thus promoting regional cooperation.
