Die Schriftstellerin Barbara Honigmann erhält den Literaturpreis der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung 2022. Die Auszeichnung wird voraussichtlich am 3. Juli im Weimarer Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere vergeben. „Barbara Honigmanns Erzählen der Geschichte jüdischen Lebens in Deutschland und Europa, vor allem der eigenen Familiengeschichte, ist nicht nur ein authentischer Beitrag zur Erinnerungskultur unseres Landes, sondern auch zur religiös geprägten Zukunft unserer Gesellschaft. Ihre Erinnerung ist ein Bekenntnis zur Freiheit des Wortes“, erklärte der Stiftungsvorsitzende Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert in Berlin.
Barbara Honigmann wurde 1949 als Kind jüdischer Remigranten in Ostberlin geboren und kam vom Theater zur Literatur. 1986 debütierte sie mit dem Roman von einem Kinde, einem Pionierwerk der zweiten Generation deutsch-jüdischer Literatur. In ihrer Begründung führte die Jury aus: „Barbara Honigmann erzählt Kapitel aus der Geschichte des Exils, der DDR und des Judentums in Deutschland und Europa. Ihre jüdische Perspektive auf die großen politischen Verwerfungen des 20. Jahrhunderts wirft in besonderer Weise die Fragen nach Identität und Fremdheit, nach Integration und Ausschluss auf. Barbara Honigmanns Romane und Essays (zuletzt das Vaterbuch Georg, 2019, und der Essayband Unverschämt jüdisch, 2021) sind Bekenntnisse zur Migrationsgesellschaft, Chronik ihrer Familienhistorie und Narrative einer jüdischen Kultur, die sich als ‚kosher light‘ versteht und nach eigenen Worten einen neuen Ort jenseits eines ‚immerwährenden Antisemitismus-Diskurses‘ sucht. Mit Witz und leichthändigem Humor, in lapidarer Klarheit, ohne „das Unmögliche, das Unstimmige“ auszuklammern (Dankrede zum Kleist-Preis), porträtiert Barbara Honigmann das literarische Gesicht unserer Zeit.“
Der Literaturpreis der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung ist mit 20.000 Euro dotiert und wird an Autorinnen und Autoren verliehen, die der Freiheit das Wort geben. Die bisherigen Preisträger sind Sarah Kirsch, Walter Kempowski, Hilde Domin, Günter de Bruyn, Thomas Hürlimann, Hartmut Lange, Burkhard Spinnen, Louis Begley, Norbert Gstrein, Adam Zagajewski, Patrick Roth, Herta Müller, Wulf Kirsten, Daniel Kehlmann, Petra Morsbach, Ralf Rothmann, Uwe Tellkamp, Cees Nooteboom, Arno Geiger, Tuvia Rübner, Martin Mosebach, Rüdiger Safranski, Marica Bodrožić, Michael Kleeberg, Michael Köhlmeier, Mathias Énard, Husch Josten und Hans Pleschinski.
Der Jury gehören an: der Vizepräsident der LMU München Prof. Dr. Oliver Jahraus, Ministerpräsidentin a.D. Christine Lieberknecht, Sandra Kegel (F.A.Z.), der Bamberger Germanist Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Marx sowie der Literaturwissenschaftler und Übersetzer Wolfgang Matz und Prof. Dr. Birgit Lermen als Ehrenmitglied.
