EU-Latin America Relations between Partnership and Geopolitical Rivalries
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of being joined virtually by our colleague Sebastian Grundberger of the KAS Regional Programme Party Support and Democracy in Latin America as well as Director of the KAS Office in Uruguay for our event “KAS Europe Talks: EU-Latin America Relations between Partnership and Geopolitical Rivalries”. Besides recent national developments in Argentina 🇦🇷, Brazil 🇧🇷 and Chile 🇨🇱, we focused on relations to the European Union 🇪🇺 against the backdrop of global challenges like climate change or Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Mr Grundberger underlined the close connection between both continents but also pointed out different standpoints on certain issues. He also stressed the importance of the ratification of the EU-MERCOSUR Agreement 🤝 to ensure further trade relations – among others – in future-oriented fields like renewable energies. 🌿
