Before the Biden administration will officially begin its term in office, the new president will take the oath of office and will also give his inaugural speech on 20 January 2021. The traditional presidential inauguration at the US Capitol in Washington, DC., comes under special circumstances after the attack on the capitol by Trump supporters. On the occasion of Joe Biden's inauguration, the European Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung would like to discuss "the day after" with decision-makers from diplomacy, science and politics and you what initial conclusions can be drawn, what agenda the President is indicating and what all this means for Europe and the EU.
One day after Joe Biden’s inauguration, Dr. Hardy Ostry, director of the European Office of the KAS in Brussels and Paul Linnarz, director of the KAS office USA, are delighted to discuss his presidential opening speech with two remarkable speakers. We are pleased to welcome Ambassador Boris Ruge, Vice-Chairman of the Munich Security Conference and David McAllister MEP, chair of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee. Which chances and challenges does the election of Joe Biden imply for Europe? Which path will the transatlantic relations follow in the future? How does the EU need to change its role? The online event will take place on Thursday, January 21, 2021, 15:00 – 16:00 h CET via Zoom. The event will be held in German and also simultaneously translated into English. We look forward to your active participation!
