Despite the concept of the independence of the judiciary being integral to the doctrine of separation of powers, the
judiciary is perceived as the weakest institution among the three arms of government in most Sub Saharan African countries. The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has only served to exacerbate interference with the justice machinery and in so doing hindered the independence of the judiciary.
