Introduction

When you hear “Sustainable Business Alliance” (SBA), what comes to mind?

The SBA is not just another business membership platform—it is a collaborative initiative for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Cambodia. Designed as a platform for dialogue, information sharing, cooperation, and action, the SBA fosters sustainability among all actors within Cambodia’s business ecosystem.

Inspired by Oxfam and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Cambodia, SBA seeks to mobilize resources and encourage holistic implementation practices in collaboration with development agencies and other key stakeholders. Its mission is to provide a comprehensive space for businesses to thrive in an ever-evolving economic landscape. The sustainable business concept aligns closely with the ASEAN Inclusive Business (IB) Framework, which defines IB as a business with a commercially viable and responsible core-business line that provides scaled-up, innovative and systemic solutions for the relevant problems of the poor and low-income people. The establishment of the SBA further supports the Royal Government of Cambodia’s commitment to advancing IB efforts. This emerging paradigm reflects a collective realization among businesses that their impact extends far beyond profit margins and market share. From adopting eco-friendly practices and reducing carbon footprints to championing fair labor standards, these enterprises are redefining success by incorporating a triple bottom line—people, planet, and profit.

Through the SBA, stakeholder will gain access to:

  • Updated policy frameworks: Addressing emerging opportunities and challenges.

  • Local and global best practices: Sharing insights and sustainable approaches from across the world.

  • Networking opportunities: Strengthening connections among diverse business associates across sectors.

  • Collaborative discussions: Creating a stage for engaging with ideas that can shape the future of business in Cambodia.

  • Be our Collaborator in our activities and events throughout the year.

At its core, the SBA is committed to advancing sustainable practices and fostering collaboration, ensuring that Cambodian businesses are prepared to face modern challenges while building a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economy. This year we conducted three events such as:

  1. Sustainable Business Alliance: “Circular Business Innovation Workshop”, held in March 15, 2024

  2. Sustainable Business Alliance: “Empowering Women in Business for Cambodia’s Inclusive and Sustainable Growth”, held in July 4, 2024

  3. Waste Summit Cambodia: “Breaking Barriers to Finance Through Impact Investment”, held in September 7, 2024

Through these efforts, we have united participating organizations and experts from diverse backgrounds to share their sustainability initiatives, exchange knowledge, and build meaningful connections. Now, we are excited to welcome you to the official launch of SBA Cambodia.
