Details
The Federal Road Safety Corps is an integral part of the security architecture of Nigeria,although with the issue of overlapping mandate with other security agencies. With the new
NRSS II, which comes into effect immediately after NRSS I, the FRSC with the collaboration
from KAS and the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, the ministry that coordinates
all government policies, will intensify efforts to protect lives of citizens especially on the
road through this new policy. Thematic areas to be covered at this capacity building workshop include Overview of NRSS II: 2021 – 2030; Establishment and Operability of SaRSAC in the Implementation of the
NRSS; UN Conventions on Road Safety and the Implication of Security in achieving NRSS II
Goals; NRSS as a Panacea to Reducing Road Fatality in Nigeria; Road Safety Initiative and
Community Policing in Nigeria by 2030: Strategies and Recommendation for Improvement;
Effective Road Crash Data Management as a Tool for Achieving NRSSII Target by 2030;
Inter-Agency Collaboration: Understanding the Institutional Roles in Achieving the Goal of
NRSS II; and syndicate sessions among others. The workshop is part of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung’s support towards sustaining democracy, governance, and Security Sector Reform in Nigeria.
