Interagency Collaboration among Security Agencies in the North-West Zone

Support to Security Sector Reform

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is cooperating with Nigeria’s House of Representatives’ Committee on Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to organize a 3-day zonal workshop for middle-level officers of security agencies in the North-West geopolitical zone on promoting interagency collaboration.

Participants are from the Nigerian Military, Nigerian Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Services, Nigeria Immigration Services, Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigerian Customs Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the Federal Road Safety Commission and from Kano, Kaduna and Katsina states.

The key objective of the workshop is to build the capacity of the officers on best practices for fostering interagency collaboration and conflict resolution, including strategies for enhancing operational effectiveness, adherence to standard procedures, leadership, approaches for effective coordination and relationship with other stakeholders. The workshop also aims at addressing the need for trust, confidence, information sharing and coordinated surveillance among security agencies. KAS is engaging seasoned experts in security sector reform to facilitate several subject areas including the politics of interagency cooperation, conflict management and resolution, leadership and interagency collaboration in complex military situations, law enforcement and internal security, emotional intelligence and interpersonal relationships, rule of law, ethics and professionalism, among others.

The seminar is part of KAS’s support to the security sector reform in Nigeria. This program is funded by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
