Migration in West Africa: Challenges and Solutions

Konrad Adenauer Stiftung is organizing a regional conference on Migration in West Africa: Challenges and Solutions, as the issue of migration has become an important topic in the politics in Europe, and especially in Germany. This is coming as follow up to a seminar held in 2018 in which different stakeholders presented positions and perspectives in migration problems and challenges.
Apart from agencies such as International Organization for Migration (IOM), the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), other participants will include Members of the German Federal Parliament, Members of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, legislators and important stakeholders from Ghana, Republic of Benin, Niger, Ivory Coast, Chad, Mali and Senegal amongst others. Among the experts expected at this 2-day conference are Dr. Bréma Ely Dicko (University of Bamakko – Mali); Dèhoungnon Dedo (Republic of Benin); Dr. Tunji Ogunyemi (OAU, Nigeria); Moussa Sibo Mballo (CASADES, Senegal); Theophile Madjitoloum Yombombe (Member of Parliament, Republic of Chad); Prof. Oshita Oshita (Former DG Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Nigeria); Hon. Muhammed Sani Zorro (Former Chairman, Nigeria House of Representatives Committee on IDPs, Refugees and North East Initiatives); Dr. Joseph Darmoe (Director for Research, Studies and Information, Ministry for Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Ghana); Prof. Bony Guiblehon (Université de Bouaké, Ivory Coast); Dr. Goita Insiata (Ivory Coast); Nassirou Afagnon (IOM, Republic of Benin); Prof. Tajudeen Akanji (IPSS, Uni. of Ibadan, Nigeria); and Dr. Obadiah Mailafia (Former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria) among others.
