The office of the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister under the Directorate of National Guidance (DNG) in conjunction with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung has been conducting countrywide civic education capacity building workshops for district leaders. The workshop for Amoro district took place from 3rd to 4th July 2008 at the District headquarters. The aim of holding the workshops is to contribute towards the promotion of Constitutionalism and Good Governance in Uganda through improving people’s understanding of government functions, and promoting free and open discussions on issues of governance and democracy. The Amoro workshop attracted over 100 participants including district officials, head teachers, district councilors and leaders of political parties.
Present at the workshop were Rt. Hon. Kirunda Kivejinja the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Information and National Guidance as well as Hon. Hillary Onek, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.
Hon. Kiveljinja pointed out that in order to enable Uganda face the desired changes, his ministry produced a national vision which addresses issues like democracy, peace, independence, sustainable development as well as industrialization. To achieve these challenges, political participation is very significant, he said.
