Seminar
Details
Teacher training seminars have been the core activity of Centropa over the past decade. They provide opportunities for educators from all over Hungary to come together, expand their knowledge about 20th-century Jewish history, learn about educational materials featuring personal stories, and share experiences while developing lesson plans with colleagues. Between November 24 and 26, we will organize a three-day teacher training seminar in Budapest, bringing together 35 educators from across the country. During the seminar, participants will learn about 20th-century Hungarian Jewish history through various activities, including expert lectures, walking tours, and screenings of Centropa's educational short films. This year, the seminar will also focus on women's stories within the framework of the HerStories project. The project conveys the multifaceted Jewish history of 20th-century Europe through the biographies of seven Jewish women from Germany, Poland, Greece, Spain, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. The seminar will be one of many events that Centropa organizes as part of this program. The aim of the seminar is to equip educators with tools and materials to teach the Holocaust and Jewish history through the unique stories of Jewish women. Teachers will have the opportunity to explore the life stories of these seven women, learn about the educational resources created within the HerStories project, and work in small groups on lesson and project plans on how to incorporate these materials into classroom education.
Our veteran teachers will lead the workshops and inspire participants by presenting how they have utilized Centropa's educational programs with their students in the past. We strongly encourage teachers to participate in Centropa programs and implement the project plans they have outlined.
