Distinguished panelists and speakers will weigh in on current robustness of the relationship in light of recent domestic, regional, and global challenges and generational change.
German and Israeli relations have been considered miraculous in the context of WWII and the Holocaust. Israel has long considered Germany its second closest ally, behind the United States, and Germany continues to view Israel’s security and well-being as a principle state interest. Despite these firm stances public opinion in Germany on the relationship has become more nuanced and tends to reflect generational divides. Three panel discussions titled, “The Political, Security, and Societal Relationships between Germany and Israel, ” “The Domestic, Regional, and International Contexts and Challenges,” and “Civil Society, Youth, and the Future of the German-Israeli “Special Relationship”” will dive deeper into these issues. The panels will feature experts and delegates from Germany, Israel, and the United States.
