Live event recording
From May 16-20, 2022 all interested parties and forward thinkers are once again invited to share ideas, discuss solutions, and inspire open government projects around the world. The thematic week around open government brings together thousands of initiatives from over 70 countries. We are participating in the International Open Government Theme Week with our public discussion event. This year, we are dedicating our efforts to Open Data at the municipal level.
Germany's Open Data activities are part of the National Action Plans as part of its participation in the Open Government Partnership (OGP). Germany has been participating in the international initiative since 2016. The increased use of municipal data increases the transparency of administrative action and the opportunities for citizens to participate.
There still seems to be a long way to go to make Germany a "pioneer for the innovative and responsible use and sharing of data in Europe," as the German government announced as a target when it presented the digital program in April 2022. The key question is: How can all Open Data stakeholders across sectors and levels continue to make this journey as conducive as possible?
What decisions and tools are needed? And what can Germany learn from international pioneers, especially from its immediate neighbor France?
