Most of the key ministries in the French government remain unchanged. Bruno Le Maire will retain the economy and finance portfolio, but will also be given responsibility for energy, which will be central to the political debate in the coming months. Macron and Attal have opted for the establishment of so-called super ministries - the topic of energy was previously managed by a fully-fledged ministry headed by Agnès Pannier-Runacher. The conservative interior and defense ministers Gérald Darmanin and Sébastien Lecornu as well as justice minister Eric Dupond-Moretti also remain constants in the government.
