Between 22 and 25 September 2011, Pope Benedikt XVI. visited Germany The first official state visit to his home country was guided by the motto “God Is Our Future”. Pope Benedikt XVI. visited the dioceses of Berlin, Erfurt and Freiburg and hold great public worship celebrations. The programme also included meetings between the Pope and representatives of the Central Council of Jews, with representatives of Islam and members of the Central Committee of the German Catholics. Furthermore, discussions were scheduled with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel, President of the Bundestag Norbert Lammert and representatives of the Federal Constitutional Court.
