Dr. Céline-Agathe Caro
Head of the KAS office in Thailand
Dr. Céline-Agathe Caro is currently the Director of the KAS Office in Thailand. Before serving in Asia, she was a Senior Policy Analyst at KAS Washington (2016-2018), the Coordinator for European Policy in the headquarters of the foundation in Berlin (2010-2015), and a Research Fellow in its Paris office (2007-2010). Prior to that she was an Assistant Professor and a Lecturer at the University of Dresden, Germany (2002-2007). She was also a visiting lecturer at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris and at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Lyon, a French grande école, in 2013.
Her research focuses on current issues regarding the future of the European integration and Germany’s EU policy, U.S. transatlantic policy and U.S. positions on key international issues as well as the perception of the EU and current international developments in Southeast Asia.
Céline attended the Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle in Paris, where she obtained a master’s degree in German Studies as well as a joint Ph.D. in German and French Studies in cooperation with the University of Dresden. Her doctoral research examined the development of environmental awareness and the emergence of green movements in France and Germany. Since 2010 she is a frequent participant in seminars and panel discussions at think tanks, governmental institutions, and universities.
