Dr. Ellinor Zeino

Dr Zeino has been preparing for her international assignment in Turkey since the beginning of June 2024. Previously, she headed the Southwest Asia regional programme based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, since July 2021. From September 2018 to August 2021, she headed the Afghanistan office in Kabul. Since September 2022, she has been a member of the Enquête Commission "Lessons from Afghanistan for Germany's future networked engagement" of the German Bundestag.
Dr Ellinor Zeino worked for many years in international cooperation and from 2015-2017 for a private consultancy firm for travel security and crisis management. From 2012 to 2015, she was project coordinator at the KAS office in Morocco. She completed her doctorate at the University of Hamburg and the GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies on Saudi Arabia's and Iran's Iraq policy. She studied political science, law and economics at the University of Passau and political science at the University of Cairo (Egypt) and completed a specialised language degree in Arabic for lawyers. Dr Zeino is a former scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
