The coal phase-out should finally be implemented by 2038. What does this mean for the people in the coal regions? For the study “Economy is Home - Regional Structural Change in Biographies and Expectations of the Population”, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung examined how the structural change as a result of the coal phase-out was experienced in the current and former coal regions of the Saar and Ruhr, Lusatia and Chemnitz. What are the expectations of politics? Which parties are most likely to be able to handle structural change successfully? Are there differences between East and West? The publication addresses all of these questions through open qualitative and standardized representative interviews.
