Welcome to the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung!
Freedom, justice, and solidarity are the guiding principles of the work of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS). The KAS is a political foundation with close ties to the CDU party. As co-founder of the CDU and the first German Chancellor, Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967) combined social, conservative, and liberal traditions. His name stands for the democratic reconstruction of Germany, the anchoring of foreign policy in a transatlantic community, the vision of European unification and the orientation towards the social market economy. His intellectual legacy continues to be both a task and an obligation for us. With our European and international cooperation, we are committed to ensuring that people can live self-determined lives in freedom and dignity. We make a value-oriented contribution to ensuring that Germany lives up to its growing responsibility in the world. We want to encourage people to help shape the future in this spirit. With more than 80 offices and projects in over 120 countries worldwide, we provide an independent contribution to promoting democracy, the rule of law and a social market economy. To secure peace and freedom, we support continuous foreign and security policy dialog as well as exchange between cultures and religions. For us, the focus is on people in their unique dignity, rights, and duties. For us, they are the starting point for social justice, liberal democracy, and sustainable economic activity. By bringing together people who accept their social responsibility, we develop active networks in politics, business, and society. Our political knowledge management improves the chances of shaping globalization in a socially just, ecologically sustainable, and economically efficient way. We work in partnership with state institutions, political parties, civil society organizations and selected elites. Through our goals and values, we want to continue to deepen political cooperation regionally and globally, particularly in development policy. Together with our partners, we contribute to an international order that enables every country to develop in freedom and on its own responsibility.
In addition to the nine country programs in the Middle East and North Africa, there are three transnational regional programs of the KAS. These programs complement the foundation's country-specific activities and each serve as a regional bracket with a specific thematic focus.
The Egypt country program implements national projects from its office in Cairo. It is designed to strengthen political dialog, social and economic integration and to sustainably promote partnership-based cooperation with the European Union.
As part of its objectives, the national program focuses on the following areas:
- strengthening the participation of women and young people in social-economic discourse
- the development of innovative reform concepts in economic, climate and energy policies
- the development of new cooperation models between Germany, the EU and Egypt
The target groups are primarily reform-oriented decision-makers and young professionals from politics, business and academia who see democracy and economic integration as a key opportunity for peace, freedom, and prosperity.
The objectives are implemented through dialog measures for the exchange of information and opinions, which take place with the involvement of international, European, and local experts in various formats such as workshops, conferences, and dialog programs. In addition, studies and analyses are used to highlight the opportunities for partnership-based cooperation and to raise awareness of the importance of innovative solutions among decision-makers.
