Strategic planning is extremely important for the protection of national interests and the political stability of a state, as it permits the relationship between objectives and national identity in order to elaborate strategic documents based on the challenges related to the organisation of the state.

On the other hand, strategic planning is a tool that allows the articulation of strategy with actions, which means setting an end point in order to direct the actions to be followed. In other words, if a state does not have a set of articulated strategies, decision-making would be strongly impacted and, facing the international system, would reflect the proverb ‘if you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there’.
