A win-win for Kallas and Estonia

In the wake of the 2024 European elections, the Estonian government is not only still facing ongoing discussions about its budget, but is also changing its leadership.

The current coalition is under pressure. Talks on the exact structure of the budget, including new taxes or an increase in existing taxes, have been stalled for many months. Kallas' move to Brussels is a win-win situation for Estonia and Kallas himself. The new prime minister-designate is no stranger to the job and has clear priorities. The new cabinet was presented on July 22, 2024.
