Shift to the Right in Switzerland

SVP Wins on a Broad Front

While climate policy hardly played a role compared to the last Swiss parliamentary election, the SVP scored a clear election victory with its migration policy issue. It is followed by the SP, Die Mitte, the FDP, the Greens and the Green Liberals.

Election Sunday in Switzerland confirmed the poll forecasts, which had already predicted gains for the right-wing SVP and massive drops for the two Green parties. The predicted neck-and-neck race between the liberal FDP and the bourgeois party Die Mitte also materialized. The SP managed to win back voters it had lost in 2019, mainly to the Greens and Green-Liberals. The SVP emerged as the undisputed winner of this election.
