For 9th year in a row, Navarino Network, the Cultural Association of Northern Greek Entrepreneurs, and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Office Greece/Cyprus organize the Thessaloniki International Symposium in World Affairs. This year's Symposium bears the title "The world in 2021: Challenges in an Age of Uncertainty". Prominent academics will analyze crucial current questions in fields like economy, growth and security on regional, European and global level in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Symposium will take place online consisting of four sessions as follows:

- "The Covid-19 pandemic and what it means for the world?", on Monday Montag, 30.11.2020  ⃒ 20:30-21:45 with
Kalypso Nicolaϊdis – Professor of International Relations and Director, Center for International Studies, University of Oxford;
Stephen M. Walt - Robert and Renee Belfer Professor of International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School.


- "Global Recession and the Greek Economy", on Monday, 07.12.2020 | 20:30-21:45 with
Nikolaos Vettas – Professor of Economics, Athens University of Economics; Business & General Director, IOBE;
Daniel Gros – Director, Centre for European Policy Studies, Brussels.


- "Turkey: Where is it heading?", on Monday,​​​​​​​ 14.12.2020  ⃒ 20:30-21:45 with
David L. Phillips – Director, Peacebuilding and Rights Program, Institute for the Study of Human Rights, Columbia University;
Soli Özel – Professor of International Relations, Kadir Has University; columnist, Habertürk daily newspaper, Turkey.


- "AI and the 4th Industrial Revolution",on Monday, ​​​​​​​21.12.2020  ⃒ 20:30-21:45 with
Michail Bletsas – Director of Computing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab;
Constantinos Daskalakis - Professor,MIT's Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department; investigator in the MIT Institute for Foundations of Data Science.

 

The Symposium will take place online and will be streamed on Facebook (@NavarinoNetwork).
