Digital technologies are driving a fundamental transformation of societies worldwide. This digital transformation holds immense opportunities for solving pressing social problems of our time. At the same time, however, the accelerating pace of digitalization creates new challenges, unintended side effects and risks.Precisely because of the construction of digital space (cross-border, many stakeholders, dynamic), the strong interconnectedness (digital interdependence) and the resulting complexity, the question today is no longer whether digital space and the digital age will be actively shaped, but rather what smart regulations can look like.
But what is the risk of digital divide? How can we reduce it? Are we shaping the correct socio-economic dimensions for the digital age? Is individuals’ privacy restricted worldwide? and what will the erosion of trust due to technology may do to our political sphere?
