Who can participate in the Sur-Place Program?
The Foundation's scholarship program is open to citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan who are enrolled in full-time undergraduate or master's degree programs at universities in Kazakhstan. At the time of application submission, the participant must not be older than 30 years.
Priority in the selection process is given to students who actively participate in the socio-political life of the country, have a broad outlook, strong determination, and an active life position. Knowledge of a foreign language is welcomed but not mandatory.
Selection Process
The selection process consists of two stages:
- Submission of application documents
- Interview (for candidates who successfully pass the first stage) with the Foundation's representatives.
If candidates are in Astana, the interview will take place at the Foundation's office. For applicants from other cities, there is an option to conduct the interview online.

To participate, applicants must submit a complete application package (see below) electronically to the following email: sps-kaz@kas.de
Scholarship Amount and Payment Duration
80,000 KZT per month for 6 months (from May to October).
Required Documents
Applications must be submitted in English or German and include:
- Completed application form with a recent photo (download application form)
- Resume (CV)
- Motivation letter (max. 2 pages, preferably in German or English)
- Transcript of records (translation not required)
- Certificate of enrollment from the university (translation not required)
- Bachelor's diploma with transcript (for master's students)
