Political and security challenges on the way to the European Integration of Kosovo

On December 9, 2024, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Prishtina hosted a dynamic and insightful event under the theme “Discussion Among Friends.” This gathering brought together members of the KAS Alumni Network and the President of the Republic of Kosovo, H.E. Dr. Vjosa Osmani, who is also an esteemed KAS alumna. Held at Hotel Sirius in Prishtina, the event welcomed around 50 current and former scholarship recipients from various generations of the KAS program, which has supported Kosovo’s future leaders since 2004.

The conference, titled “Political and Security Challenges on Kosovo’s Path to European Integration,” kicked off with a warm welcome from Mr. Daniel Braun, the KAS Representative for Kosovo and North Macedonia. Following his remarks, President Osmani delivered an impactful 30-minute presentation that addressed the current political and security challenges facing Kosovo. She provided an in-depth analysis of the ongoing dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as well as the country’s security situation and its European integration ambitions.

President Osmani emphasized the strategic significance of Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration, stressing that it is crucial not only for Kosovo’s prosperity but also for regional peace and sustainable development.

After the presentation, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a lively and candid Q&A session. The discussion was a platform for participants to ask questions, share their perspectives, and exchange valuable insights with the President, enriching the conversation around Kosovo’s future on the European stage.
