‘Fat Man’ – a plutonium implosion bomb – dropped from the B-29 bomber Bockscar over Nagasaki exploded at an altitude of 500 m. (1650 ft.) The estimated yield was about 21 kilotons TNT (40 percent bigger than the Hiroshima bomb). Together, the two bombs killed as many as 300,000 people including those who died later from radiation and other effects.
