"A land for women"! For the second time since the beginning of the project, the special initiative "One World – No Hunger" launched the "Edutainment" show with the play "A Land for Women". The event is intended to entertain the public, but also to educate on women’s rights.

This time the event took place on all 9 days of the Ongwediva Trade Fair from 25.08. - 02.09.2017. The Ongwediva Trade Fair attracts more than 125,000 visitors every year. In the 2-hour shows, where dancers were enthusing the audience, a play was performed.

The play featured a scene well known in the northern regions. The husband of Anna died. Not even a week after the burial, the brother of Anna's late husband, Tate Ingo, appears to grab the communal land where Anna and her husband have lived together with their children for over 30 years. Fortunately, Anna's daughter Sarah is aware of her rights and clarifies her mother about the fact that according to the Communal Land Reform Act, she is entitled to remain on the communal land, since women in Namibia have the same rights as men. Thereupon, they all go to the chief of the village. The chief points out that the traditional authorities must also act according to the law and not according to obsolete customary law. In the end the chief reallocates the communal land of her deceased husband to the widow Anna.

All shows were very well attended every day and the audience enjoyed the show. The audience understood the challenges of the widow Anna in the play, as this happens every day in the villages. Between the show people from the audience were integrated in the shows and a quiz motivated to deal intensively with the subject.
