Details
It is an all-day event with the following activities:
Panel discussion on the topic “Democracy in Europe - 30 years after the Maastricht Treaty: New dilemmas for the European future and the enlargement”. The panel discussion envisages the participation of senior political representatives from the country, representatives of diplomatic missions, academia, students, and other stakeholders in this field.
Following keynote speakers will address at the panel discussion:
H.E. David Geer, Head of Delegation of the European Union
H.E. Anke Holstein, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany
The panel discussion will be attended by following speakers:
Bojan Marichikj, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs
Aleksandar Nikoloski, President of the National European Integration Council
Arta Bilalli-Zendeli, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on European Affairs
Monika Zajkova, Member of the Committee on European Affairs
The event will be opened by Mileva Gjurovska, President of the European Movement, Daniel Braun, Official Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and Katerina Jakimovska from the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies.
The discussion will be moderated by Vasko Naumovski, Former Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs.
In the second part of the event the following activities will be organized:
Oratory competition with the participation of students from different universities in North Macedonia. The topic of the oratory competition is "My message for a better future of my country" and the EU knowledge quiz, which will be also attended by students from different universities.
On this occasion the European Person of the Year will be nominated, an award which the European Movement is traditionally handing over for more than 20 years to people who promote the European values in North Macedonia, but also people who promote the country in Europe and the world.
The working languages of the event are Macedonian, Albanian, English and German (with simultaneous interpretation provided).
Celebration of Europe Day – 9 May will be held on 19 May (Thursday) starting at 11.00 in Ragusa Rooftop (Parking garage "26 July", St. Cyril and Methodius No. 1).
