Call For Proposals: Research and Policy Papers

Freedom, justice and solidarity are the basic principles underlying the work of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS). KAS is a political foundation, closely associated with the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU). Since 1996, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung has been present with its office in the Palestinian Territories. In addition to promoting regional and international dialogue, fostering political education, and supporting local partner networks, a core mandate of KAS in the Palestinian Territories is to provide political analysis, research, and policy consulting. As part of this, it is encouraged to propose research or policy papers for review and publication through KAS. Honoraria, if applicable, will be discussed with KAS after successful application.

 

Proposal applications are open all year round. The proposed policy areas with regards to Palestinian affairs could be, but are not limited to, the fields of

  • Foreign and security policy
  • Political reform and transition
  • Economic and social policy
  • Water, energy, and climate

 

Submission Guidelines and Formats

  1. Policy Paper Series

Length: 2,500 to 4,000 words.

Analysis: Well-structured sections addressing key aspects of the policy issue.

Recommendations: Clear, actionable policy recommendations at the end.

Style: Concise, objective, and targeted towards policymakers. Must present a balanced view and provide evidence-based arguments.

 

  1. Research Paper Series

Length: 5,000 to 10,000 words.

Style: Scholarly, detailed, and aimed at an academic audience.

 

  1. Op-Ed Series

Length: 800 to 2,000 words.

Introduction: A compelling “hook” or anecdote to introduce the issue.

Argument: Present a clear, well-reasoned position on a current issue or policy debate.

Conclusion: Strong closing, often with recommendations or a call to action.

Style: Direct, persuasive, and opinionated, addressing current events or policies. Arguments should be clear, concise, and accessible to a general audience.

 

Ethics: Ensure all research is rigorously verified, unbiased, and peer-reviewed for accuracy. Submissions must be fact-checked, neutral, and focused on offering solutions to current policy challenges.

 

Pitch Requirements:

Submit at least a 150-300 word proposal outlining the topic, relevance, and argument as well as a short biography of the author. Do not submit a fully drafted copy.
