Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is an international political think tank closely associated with the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) of Germany. As co-founder of the CDU and the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967) united Christian-social, conservative, and liberal traditions. His name is synonymous with the democratic reconstruction of Germany, the firm alignment of foreign policy with the trans-Atlantic community of values, the vision of a unified Europe, and an orientation toward the social market economy. His intellectual heritage continues to serve both as our aim and as our obligation today.
In our European and international cooperation efforts, we work for people to live self-determined lives in freedom and dignity. We make a contribution underpinned by values to help Germany meet its growing responsibilities throughout the world.
We encourage people to contribute to shaping the future. With more than 70 offices abroad and projects in over 120 countries, we uniquely contribute to promoting democracy, the rule of law, and a social market economy. To foster peace and freedom, we encourage continuous dialogue at the national and international levels and the exchange between cultures and religions.
Human beings, in their distinctive dignity, rights, and responsibilities, are at the heart of our work. The conviction that human beings are the starting point guides us in bringing about social justice and democratic freedom while promoting sustainable economic activity. By bringing people together who embrace their responsibilities in society, we develop active networks in the political and economic spheres and in society itself. The guidance we provide based on our political know-how and knowledge helps to shape the globalization process along more socially equitable, ecologically sustainable, and economically efficient lines.
KAS has been active in the Philippines since 1964. We are excited to bring politics closer to the people as we believe in the power of democracy to shape the future of the Philippines.
Integrity, dignity, and inclusivity guide our work in the country. Integrity motivates us to uphold transparency, accountability, and the rule of law. Dignity propels us to ensure that all interactions and initiatives honor the humanity of our stakeholders. Inclusivity drives us to involve diverse voices and perspectives. It guarantees that our work represents and benefits all our stakeholders and that everyone's voice is heard and valued.
Our pillars of work in the Philippines are promoting democracy and good governance, inclusive economic development, foreign relations and security, and youth empowerment. Our vision is to provide a safe space for everyone to discuss politics and give a voice to people who need a platform. We partner with like-minded individuals and organizations to uphold democracy and provide a platform for issues close to our hearts. Together with our partners, we provide research-based policy inputs and create momentum for relevant policy pushes.
KAS collaborates with both cooperation and institutional partners. In the Philippines, these include:
- The Asian Institute of Management Rizalino S. Navarro Policy Center for Competitiveness (AIM-RSN PCC)
- The Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG)
