Details

From June 2 to 8, 2024,, KAS PolDiSSA hosted the first francophone edition of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung School for Young Politicians (KASYP) at the Azalai Hotel in Cotonou, Benin. KASYP is a flagship program designed to equip young African politicians with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers and make a positive impact in their communities. This edition brought together 18 young professionals and politicians from Benin, Togo, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo to enhance their communication and leadership skills.

The programme officially kicked off with an opening ceremony and welcome remarks by Dr. Holger Dix, KAS Director of Political Dialogue Sub-Saharan Africa (PolDiSSA). Over the next days, participants engaged in intensive sessions focused on effective communication, emotional intelligence, leadership, and crisis communication. They learned how to master the fundamentals of communication, adapt their communication style to different audiences, and develop strategies to reach their target audience. Participants also explored the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership and learned how to structure their speeches to persuade and inspire.

The program was facilitated by Sanda Barboura, an experienced trainer and experts in political communication, emotional intelligence, and leadership.  The KASYP 2024 programme in Benin was a resounding success, equipping young leaders with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their careers and make a positive impact in their communities.
