The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is currently accepting applications for internship positions starting in January 2025 at the Regional Programme Gulf States Office based in Amman, Jordan.

 

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Regional Gulf States office in Amman, Jordan provides motivated students and recent graduates the opportunity to contribute to our work through a professionally enriching internship experience. For over a decade, KAS has overseen impactful projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries as a leading think tank and political advisory organisation.

 

Our Regional Programme Gulf States (RPG), based in Amman, offers committed applicants in their later years of study a 2-3 month placement to directly observe and support KAS' international efforts. Through hands-on project involvement and exposure to our operations, interns gain valuable insights into the political and social dynamics of the Gulf region. This experience allows participants to advance their understanding of our foundation’s contributions while developing skills applicable to future careers in international development, research, and policy work.

As an intern, you will actively support our team on a variety of tasks including:

 

Project Management

  • Assisting with planning, implementing, and follow-up of workshops, seminars, trainings, and conferences conducted by KAS in the Gulf States and Yemen.
  • Collaborating on developing and editing project concepts and proposals

Research

  • Monitoring media coverage of the Gulf region.
  • Researching socio-economic and political developments in Gulf countries and contribute to country report drafting
  • Based on your background and skills, support advisory and research work on projects related to political issues in the Gulf region and Yemen

Administration

  • Providing organisational support for day-to-day operations.
  • Provide writing, editing, and translation support (in German, English, and potentially Arabic) for various communications materials such as event summaries, internal reports, briefings, memos, and meeting notes/minutes.
  • Supporting the updating of the Regional Programme Gulf States website and assisting with other public relations tasks such as drafting reports on events and activities.

The ideal candidate will have the following prerequisites:

  • Advanced studies in the fields of social or economic sciences.
  • Basic knowledge of Gulf States politics and history, and an interest in current social, political, and economic contexts as well as developments in the Gulf region.
  • A keen interest in living abroad and working in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong collaborative abilities and team orientation, with sound organisational and communication skills and flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while taking initiative on tasks
  • Proficiency in both written and verbal English; knowledge of Arabic is advantageous.
  • Proficient computer skills.
