The renowned French historian Stéphane Courtois, coordinator of the "Black Book of Communism", has been the rector of the Sighet Summer School since 2000. The volume is made up of lectures, discussions, talks and interviews held in Romania between 1999 and 2003. The editor is Ioana Boca while the editor of the series is Romulus Rusan. The Summer School is a project of the Fundaţia Academia Civică in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, which aims to re-evaluate, critically examine and create a culture of remembrance of communism.
