We announcing an opening for the position of Public outreach and communication officer in the project "United for Georgia's European Way" - fostering nationwide civil society engagement and democratic oversight of Georgia's European integration process."

 

The European Union (EU) and KAS funded project "United for Georgia's European Way" aims at strengthening the capacity of CSOs, academia, think tanks and independent media to support Georgia's EU integration process through building nationwide coalitions, consolidating networks and enhancing public engagement in the process. The project is implemented by the Consortium led by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and composed of the following CSOs: Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF), Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC), House of Free Journalists (IJH).

 

Description of the position:

The Public outreach and communication officer is responsible for coordinating and overseeing public relations and visibility activities of the project. Developing communication and visibility plan of the project in compliance with the EU Communication and Visibility Requirements for EU External Actions. Coordinating visibility actions with the Delegation of the European Union in Georgia (EUD); Elaborating a corporate design of the project and creating communication material such as press releases and newsletters and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external parties such as the media; Setting up and maintaining a bilingual Facebook site of the project and supervising the compliance of all visibility actions implemented within the project. The Public outreach and communication officer will work under the supervision of the Team Leader, and in close collaboration with the KAS-backstopping teams in Berlin & Brussels.

The position is full-time, based in the project office, Tbilisi with frequent travels to the regions of Georgia. The duration of the position corresponds to thirty (30) months.

Duties and Responsibilities:

** Coordinating public relations and visibility activities of the project, ensuring that established visibility requirements and procedures are applied;
** Supporting Team Leader in drafting and applying the project communication strategy and internal guidelines;
** Coordinating visibility actions of partner organizations as well as sub-grantees, including organization of regular meetings and documenting the meeting records;
** Reviewing, commenting and submitting the project visibility materials for the final approvals to the EUD;
** Elaborating a corporate design of the project and creating communication material;
** Documenting the visibility of project activities in a transparent and comprehensible way, collecting and sorting respective information for reporting;
** Setting up and maintaining a bilingual Facebook site of the project and supervising the compliance of all visibility actions implemented within the project;
** Traveling to the regions in the framework of the project activities and ensuring regular coverage of the activities through Social media as well as communication with the local media;
** Maintaining the integrity, confidentiality and safety of all data;
** Assisting Team Leader in the communication and reporting to the EUD;
** Supporting the Team Leader with respective visibility materials for reporting in the PASTIS system
** Early warning of the Team Leader when problems arise and proposing solutions.

Qualifications and skills:

** University degree in Public Relations, Journalism or a related field
At least 5 years of professional experience related to media and communications in international organisation
** Experience in writing articles, issuing press-releases and communicating with media in Georgian and English
** Experienced in working with civil society organisations, preferably in EU funded programmes/projects
** Ability to ad hoc release of information through local media channels as well as social media
** Fluent in English and Georgian, both written and verbal
sound computer skills of standard tools in office applications (word and excel processing; presentation software, knowledge of IT tools related to web and social media publishing programs)
good research and analytical skills;
** Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, team player.
