Workshop
Details
February 6th, the consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 in Kahramanmaraş directly affected 11 provinces and plunged our country into mourning. The earthquakes, described as a disaster of the century, have directly affected millions of people. In order to reduce the negative effects of the earthquake and strengthen sustainability, KAS Türkiye in cooperation with HÜGÖÇ and UYUM is implementing a “Youth Recovery Project”, from 01.03.-30.04.2023 in Şanlıurfa, which aims to promote solidarity among young people.
20 earthquake-affected immigrants and local youth receive psychosocial support and training from psychologists and sociologists, gain knowledge about earthquake culture and crisis management, and learn how to raise awareness to create sustainable solidarity in times of natural disasters. Three activities, namely five seminars, a two-day workshop, and training on project writing, will be video-recorded and broadcast on the youtube channel of the association and university. Post-earthquake recovery and sustainable solidarity issues will be discussed and the output, immediate, short, medium, and long-term action plans will be created. These plans will be prepared in the form of infographics and presented to policymakers. 20 young people will research various funding sources for the future and write projects on sustainable recovery after the earthquake with project ideas.
