Günther “Guy” Stern answers these and many more questions about his life in "Invisible Ink" (2020). His memoir, translated into German by his wife, author Susanna Piontek, has recently been published by the Berliner Aufbau Verlag - just in time for the author's 100th birthday. The title "Wir sind nicht mehr viele" is a compelling testimony of a man who is one of the last contemporary surviving witnesses of the 20th century. His memoir not only bears witness to a truly remarkable life, but also a compelling narrative of lessons learned, and legacy of a life well lived.
Join us for this virtual book reading and conversation with Guy Stern and Susanna Piontek, moderated by Prof. Dr. Michael Braun, Representative for Literature, followed by a discussion with Q&A from the chat room. The event gives insights into a century of life, pre-war, wartime and post-war, an academic career at American and German universities, and an exemplary commitment to Holocaust remembrance at the Holocaust Memorial Center in Detroit.
This virtual event, which will be conducted in German, is organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung USA in Washington, D.C., in cooperation with the KAS’ Cultural Department in Berlin, Germany. The head of the KAS office USA, Paul Linnarz, will give opening remarks.
