With breathtaking speed, generative AI is changing how journalists produce and people consume news. One of the major questions is this: How will AI affect the business models of local media around the globe?
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung USA and Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University are hosting a workshop with leading experts to explore how AI will impact local news worldwide. At the workshop, experts from the United States, Europe, Africa, and Latin America will discuss questions including the economic needs of local news organizations, identify which AI tools exist to address those needs and develop ideas how local news media can embrace the potential of AI to drive revenue and improve efficiency.
