In a highly urbanised city, building design can play a key role in reducing waste. Architects in New York City developed Zero Waste Design Guidelines for new and existing buildings to help the city manage the waste. Currently, experts in sustainable design from Hong Kong, Singapore and NYC are collaborating to share ideas, knowledge and policy suggestions that can help high density metropolitan cities reach zero waste goals. Clare Miflin, Founder of Center for Zero Waste Design, who led the NYC process, will showcase the American example and experience and engage in discussion with local leaders of sustainable design in Hong Kong.
