A discussion about Chinese soft power in Africa and Australia

How two very different continents are dealing with Chinese influence beyond trade, construction and production can be a very interesting subject of debate. KAS Media Africa in Johannesburg/South Africa and the Judith-Neilson-Institute in Sydney/Australia, brought therefore together over twenty publishers, leading editors, correspondents and academics from both Africa and Australia. Under the moderation of Christoph Plate, Director of the Media Programme Subsahara Africa of the German Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, and of Prue Clarke, Senior Executive Officer of the Judith Neilson Institute for Journalism and Ideas, they assessed the situation in their respective countries and discovered many similarities, when pertaining to Chinese influences in media and politics.
